Two fish curve into one another at the centre of this plate, framed by the dense linework that Madhubani painting is known for. The palette stays with blue, gold and black, and the detailing fills the circle edge to edge. In this Bihar folk tradition, the pair of fish stands for prosperity, abundance and harmony.
The plate measures 12 inches across and is painted by hand by Indian artisans. It is light enough to hang without fuss, and the round format sits well on its own or among other pieces. People place it in a living room, a dining area, a hallway, an office or a meditation corner, and it also travels well as a housewarming gift.
To clean, use a soft dry cloth with a light hand and keep the plate away from water.
