Bihar Handcrafted Madhubani Sun Wall Plate

The sun sits at the centre of this 12-inch circular plate, drawn in the Madhubani folk style of Bihar and filled in by hand with bold traditional colours. In this tradition the sun stands for strength, vitality, prosperity and divine energy, and the motif is worked up with the fine, closely packed detailing the painting style is known for.

The plate is light, so it hangs easily on an entrance wall, in a living or dining room, in an office, or in a meditation corner, where the round form reads as a single point of colour. It also works as a housewarming or festive gift for anyone collecting regional craft.

To care for it, dust with a soft dry cloth and keep it away from water.
