An off-white saree with the golden zari border that gives Kerala Kasavu its name. The base is pure cotton or a cotton-silk blend depending on the variant, woven on a traditional loom by artisans in Kerala. The cloth is soft and lightweight, with a smooth, breathable handle.
The saree measures 5.5 metres and comes with a 1 metre blouse piece. The Kasavu border is worked in gold zari, traditionally metallic or zari-coated thread. It is worn for Onam, Vishu, weddings and other cultural ceremonies, and pairs with the usual Kerala blouse styles.
