Woven from wool, this saree carries the warmth that makes it suited to cool and cold weather. The ground is a deep black, and the borders run bright against it in red, orange, yellow, blue and white, worked in the geometric motifs of Himachali handloom. The border patterning draws on Kullu and Pattu weaving styles of Himachal Pradesh.
The length falls between 5.5 and 6.3 metres, enough for a full drape, with a width of 1.1 to 1.2 metres, or 44 to 47 inches. It is a piece for winter weddings and cultural events, for temple visits and festive days, and for formal gatherings where an ethnic drape is called for.
