Himachali Kullu Handwoven Wool Shawl - Traditional Border

A mustard yellow base carries a classic Kullu border of geometric motifs woven in earthy rust, red and black. The patterns follow designs passed down through generations of weavers, and are understood to stand for heritage, protection and warmth. Fringes at both ends are hand-knotted to finish.

The shawl is made of 100% pure sheep wool, handwoven on traditional looms by Himachali artisans working in the Kullu handloom tradition of Himachal Pradesh. Natural dyes and processes lend the cloth its texture. It is soft, breathable and medium in weight, which suits regular winter use as much as festive and cultural occasions.

It measures roughly 200 to 210 cm long including the fringes and 90 to 100 cm wide, a free size that works for men and women alike, draped formally or styled loosely.
